  11. Yes, I am partly responsible for this,
  12. naturally, as the main editor it is my
  13. task  to  secure  support by  whatever
  14. means possible, and I  neglected to do
  15. that this time. Instead,  »CL8:I  foolishly
  16. waited for support to come, but no, no
  17. support  came (no letters came either,
  18. which might explain the first).»CL1:  And I
  19. noticed this  too  late  (like.. 1 day
  20. before I have  to finish all articles,

  28. back,  swapping  was  not   completely
  29. dead,  but  sadly,  no  one  had  any
  30. recommendations for me..

  33. article about the current state of the
  34. swapping scene instead»CL1: (I sent out the
  35. EC43 as the last thing I did, and now,
  36. 5  months  later,  I  have   gotten  5
  37. replies to my 21 sent letters. This is
  38. the strongest indication I  have  ever
  39. had about  the  swapping  scene  being
  40. wrecked), but no! (Ahh,  you  feared I
  41. would, did you not?) I  already  wrote
  42. such an article for DISC #12, although
  43. if I wrote it now, it would not  be as
  44. positive as that one. Instead, »CL8:I  will
  45. write  about   the  5  swappers I swap
  46. with, who  ARE  infact  reliable,»CL1: that
  47. means, I will list those who  wrote me
  48. back, and whom I can count on. I might
  49. even be cruel, and list some  of those
  50. who did not  answer back, but  let  us
  51. see.. Bear in mind that this  means it
  52. is only I, who rate these swappers and
  53. no one else.

  64. letters. That is still  true, although
  65. his 'delay'  gets  longer  than in the
  66. past, which  is  worrying . However, I
  67. still have faith in Angeldust,  he  is
  68. not likely to quit, so he is still one
  69. of those solid rocks you can count on.

  81. This, along  with  him  getting  a bit
  82. more sad about the  lack of letters he
  83. gets, does not bode  well either,  but
  84. well, he is still active and  engaged.
  85. He, like the rest  of us,  just  needs
  86. more activity (=letters) to  hit  him,
  87. so write him if you  want  a  reliable
  88. and interesting contact.

  98. letters, and is also one of the faster
  99. repliers usually. This came true  this
  100. time also, him being  the  second  one
  101. who replied to my last letter. Well, a

  104. but it  is  the  standard  speed  now.

  117. for 3 or more years, and  very  steady
  118. too, although  the  latest letter from
  119. him was somewhat slow in coming. I  am
  120. not too worried though, as he has been
  121. very fast  and  steady  otherwise, and
  122. every  now  and then, we are all (some
  123. of us  most  of  the  time, eh) a  bit
  124. delayed. Powerslave has  been swapping
  125. since 1991,  so  he   has   some  good
  126. credentials, would you not say?

  138. letters every time I send him 1. Apart
  139. from giving me a bad  conscience, this
  140. also shows how engaged  and  active he
  141. is, since he  started  swapping again.
  142. He is also the   only one ever to have
  143. sent me a 400kb+ letter (yes! In reply
  144. to my poor 200kb letter.. Now you know
  145. why the  two  of  us  do not release 4
  146. mags each extra ,  we are busy writing
  147. letters, ehehe),  and   well,   he  is
  148. definitely worth  writing a letter to,
  149. but since I think he  wants to give up
  150. swapping again, it is probably not the
  151. time to write  him, sadly.  Therefore,
  152. I will just have to tell you all, now,
  153. that  »CL8:Zerox  is   the  best   swapping
  154. contact  I  have  ever  had  (we  have
  155. swapped    steadily     without    any
  156. interruption  since  1994,»CL1:  after all,
  157. that is some years), and well, without
  158. contacts such as him, I am not  sure I
  159. would still continue to  swap.  So,  a
  160. special note of thanks  and respect to
  161. you Frode!

  163. In addition, I got something  as  rare
  164. as a contact  letter  the  other  day!
  165. Hooray, I was pretty happy, and it was
  166. of a nice length too. It was Corrector
  167. from dpt+eng+rad+attic+void (man, do I
  168. hate  people  being  in  more than one
  169. group, but that is  another old story,
  170. hehe) who sent it, and hey! You can be
  171. sure to get a  reply,  hopefully  with
  172. this mag included. Naturally, I cannot
  173. comment  on   Corrector's  reliability
  174. yet, but these days, sending a contact
  175. letter counts for much too!

  178. the scene, too bad, he  made  it  into
  179. the  first  issue   of   the  Reliable
  180. Swapper chart,»CL1: but when  I  sent him a
  181. contact letter, I got only  silence in
  182. return. Seems like  he  had  lost  his
  183. motivation already back then.

  186. swapping  motivation  are   Evan   and
  187. Punisher.»CL1: I have  not  heard from Evan
  188. since  March  I  think,  and  although
  189. Punisher  is  still  around I have not
  190. received  a   letter  from  him  since
  191. February (ok ok, I  did not send out a
  192. reply to either  of  them  before July
  193. myself, so  I  am  also  bad). The sad
  194. thing is  that  there  are  also other
  195. swappers, I  have not heard from since
  196. then. Well, in  any  case, there might
  197. be  hope  for  both Evan and Punisher,
  198. scene-wise, but  maybe  not in regards
  199. to swapping? The way it is going these
  200. days, we  might  as  well  soon make a
  201. united statement, and declare swapping
  202. definitely  dead? Wait, there  is  one
  203. more positive news bit.

  206. HD crash after the party he held  this
  207. autumn, and this  has slowed  down his
  208. swapping  quite  a  bit,»CL1: he  is  still
  209. alive and swapping. He also  complains
  210. about the low number of  sends he gets
  211. these   days   though.    Seems   like
  212. everything  is  slowing  down  in  the
  213. swapping business, and that  is  quite
  214. understandable,  since  most  swappers
  215. have got  Internet  too and might meet
  216. up there. »CL7:It  gets  harder  and harder
  217. for them to see any  point  in sending
  218. out a 'real' letter (yes, the point is
  219. the long letter  and  the  friendship,
  220. however,  it  is  hard  having this in
  221. mind  all  the  time, when  having the
  222. Internet,  especially  if   one  lacks
  223. time, for  many  it seems like a waste
  224. of time to swap then).»CL1:

  227. alternative chart, please send in some
  228. support, by mail or email,  I  do  not
  229. care  which.  Otherwise, I can  either
  230. close it  down  or write only about my
  231. own  experiences....  We   will   see.
